"Brown Sounds"

A joyous celebration of Black art, Black bodies and Black consciousness masterminded and performed by Raehann Bryce-Davis. Henry Dumas' evocative poetry is set to music by composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson, with piano accompaniment by Jeanne-Minette Cilliers. An all-Black creative team heads the sumptuous visual treatment of this piece, including filmmaker Jeremy Adonis, fashion designer Allan Virgo and dancer Lateef Williams. This project is presented in collaboration with The African American Art Song Alliance, Black Opera Alliance, National Association of Negro Musicians, Aural Compass Projects and Philadanco! The Philadelphia Dance Company.
